So…. let me paint this picture for you, spent a week visiting with the inlaws for our summer vacation, head home with 3 kids on about a 13 hour drive in a car without a radio (it had gone out just before the trip) when the “FUN” begins! The car starts to overheat, at first it was only doing it when we were stopped, so we pull off and check to make sure nothing is leaking and the water level in the radiator was normal…. well it was just fine. So we start back on the road, driving about two more hours then we stop again to refuel and recheck the water level, which again was fine. We get going again, about 30 minutes down the road it starts to overheat even when the car is going, which was something new. We stop off to get the kids some ice cream while the car cools down and decide to go ahead and get a hotel for the night. We end up having to get our 20 yr old daughter to drive the 3 hours at 10pm at night to pick up my husband, take him back home so he can pick up his truck, then he has to go rent a car hauler, then drive the 3 hours back to pick us up and load the car on the trailer. We drive it the 3 hours back home and get there about 6pm the day after we were supposed to be home. We FINALLY get home, and guess what? NO AIR CONDITIONING! In TEXAS, In JULY! It’s insanely hot in our house, AND we still have a million things to do before the night is over.
We unload the car, super-fast, so we can go and drop it off at the dealership, then take the rented car hauler back because my husband is starting a new job in the morning that he has been trying to get for the past two years! Well, we get to the dealership and every entrance is closed, no where for us to leave the car there, so we have to drop it off in a parking lot of a doctor’s office near the dealership for the night. Then we go to drop off the car hauler, and it starts storming, I mean like REALLY storming, the kind of storming where it’s lightening, thundering, wind whooping, and raining so hard you can’t see to drive…. THAT kind of storming! So as were waiting for it to slow down in the parking lot of the rental place, the kids are calling because they are starving, it’s way past dinner time, they are HOT, and so is my patience… so hot in fact, that I feel as though my face is going to explode!
Ever have those kind of days? Weeks? Months? Where you just feel there is not one more thing you can take? Yeeppp….. seems I’ve had a few of these moments in my life and it’s sure not fun, but when these moments happen it’s like the old saying goes “When life gets too hard to stand…. KNEEL!”. These moments remind us that we are weak and we need to rely less on ourselves and more on the strength of God to carry us through.
My favorite scripture, the one I say the most is “I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) especially during times like what I just went through because HE is the only one that can give us the strength we need to take that one more step, or one more breathe when we feel like we can’t do it on our own.
Have Faith, It Will All Work OUT….. It always does, in His time!
